The Bad Boy Con Artist (A Sweet Bad Boy Romance, #1) By Fallyn Briggs

I love a good clean romance. This one definitely rates. I loved the premise bad boy con artist falls for his mark. The setting and characters are well developed. I wanted a bit in a few spots, but overall this was a delightful read that kept me engaged and did not disappoint. I recommend it if you want a sweet diversion for a summer read or anytime. I was intrigued to read this book, because I wasn’t sure how a story about a con artist trying to swindle a woman out her money could be considered a “sweet romance,” but The Bad Boy Con Artist is just that. The story follows Jaxson, a man who was raised to earn a living by separating gullible people from their money. He’s traveled all over, never settling down and never thinking to deeply about how his actions affect others. When Cat, a wealthy young woman who has a reputation for having a disastrous love life, comes to stay at his aunt’s inn, Jaxson sees the perfect opportunity to use Cat’s current vulnerability against her. As Jaxson gets closer to Cat in an effort to con her, he realizes that he’s starting to want to be around her because she makes him feel good, not because he wants her money. But what happens when Cat realizes he’s been conning her all along?I enjoyed this book quite a bit the writing is good, the characters are both likeable, and it really is a sweet romance despite Jaxson’s actions. The vast majority of the book focuses on Jaxson and Cat spending time together, and the con is in the background. It’s also a completely clean romance, so that adds to the sweet feel of the book. There is mention of Jaxson having slept with women he’s conned before, and that rubbed me the wrong way a little bit, but thankfully that wasn’t the case here. I also pictured Jaxson in my head a little differently than he is described physically in the book (it’s a great book cover and I saw him as that guy). I will admit that I was leaning towards 5 stars until the end of the book I get why the author made the choices she did, but it wasn’t the way I would’ve wrapped up the story. However, it’s a sweet, light, cute read that does have a HEA for our con artist hero.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. He tried to con her when he knew who she was and changed his mind after. He was so into himself and how he was going to get money to leave the island that her forgot to be human. She made him see that. He found some truths along the way and owned up to them for a change. He grew up and that was a good thing. Really enjoyed this one. It was clean read with the extras that you want to read about in a book.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. A Sweet ConAt first, I felt like I was watching a train wreck about to happen, but then the story really surprised me and I liked it very much. Jaxon thought he was just running a con, but the time he spent with Cat, the he liked her. Being with her made him happy in a way his grifter lifestyle never did.The story is clean and sweet and very charming.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
